Doug Copple will be presenting, What’s Best - Starting a Practice or Purchasing an Existing One, as part of the AAO’s Webinar Series. This webinar is targeted towards orthodontic residents and the AAO’s new and younger members. Presentation time is 8:15pm-9:30pm EST.
Nearly every younger orthodontist wants to eventually own or co-own a practice during his or her career. This leads to the question, Is it better to start my own practice from scratch or purchase an existing practice? Doug Copple of Bentson Clark & Copple advises on the pro and cons of both practice situations and weighs the overall financial rewards. Learning Objectives:
1) Examine how educational debt and how it can affect the decision to purchase versus start-up a practice.
2) Analyze factors to consider in both practice situations.
3) Determine what opportunity is best for your personal situation.
4) Interpret a cash flow for both existing and start-up practices to understand the long-term financial compensation.
